The format Display is an exhibition space behind Depot Basel’s shop windows. It has been developed to facilitate access to the exhibitions’ contents to the general public and to pedestrians. The once commercially used shop window of the former bureau de change now serves as a display for contemporary design; a visually attention-grabbing point, which is accessible beyond Depot Basel’s regular opening hours.
In April we will exhibit pages from the current issue of the Spheres publication, for which graphic designer Philippe Karrer – initiator and creator of the series of publications – has collaborated closely with the American painter Austin Lee. When observing them via the respectively designed iPhone-App, Lee’s cartnoon’ish and neon-coloured iPad-paintings are being brought to life through 3D and animation effects.
