Scrolling into the Deep
Cyber Cyber is a physical manifestation of the primarily digital experience in the internet.
You access the installation through a fiberglass wire, once you have found the entrance, it soaks you deeper and deeper into the virtual space. The cable also separates two different understandings
of the internet, the perceptions of two generations.
On one side of the wire, the occupation of virtual space, a practice prevailing in the times of MySpace & Co, is illustrated. Especially in its beginnings the internet was a place for personalized
homepages, which were marked as very personal virtual territories, nourished and nursed by their holders. Saved and archived on the servers of this world, they – and also their very own digital aesthetics – have stayed a part of the virtual reality.
On the other side of the cable you encounter the newer perception of the internet as a bottomless
network, as an expansion of the social sphere; as a place for exchange, self-expression and
encounters. Just as in this installation. Here you can meet: physically and virtually. Welcome!
